FROM ONE WORLD TO OTHERS

The objects that are exhibited here have been collected since the start of the 19th century, first of all by adventurers driven by the thirst for conquest, then by scientists instilled with the desire to understand people who were so different from themselves.

The ritual or daily objects gathered here bear witness to the genius specific to the people who produced them, their social and cultural practices and their history, long unknown. But beyond this they illustrate how the people who gathered these objects changed their opinions.

Still today they help us realise the diversity of societies and show us living cultures.
