BEYOND THE SACRED, THE UNIVERSAL

Observation of religious practices lets us see other views of the world. But science cannot reveal everything and ethnology is not always able to decipher the full meaning that can be given to a ritual object.

Thanks to Etienne Loppé, an extraordinary collection from Oceania, Africa and America is exhibited here, showing how little by little the study of man takes over fascination for the richness of the colonial empire.

Today the Museum wants to act as a cultural crossroads at the heart of the city, as recent American acquisitions show.
