BIRTH OF THE COASTLINE

Geologists have been visiting the region for the last two centuries and collecting the fossils, mostly marine in origin, which are exhibited here. These animals and plants which are now extinct tell of the close links that have bound this region and the sea for hundreds of thousands of years.

In a more intimate setting, the mineral collection provides an overview of the materials that have made up our planet, including a remarkable range of gypsum.
